Urus Vs Rs Q8

Urus Vs Rs Q8

When Lamborghini came in the market with the Urus, it created a new segment of high-performance SUVs. Now, Audi, Maserati, and Porsche, all have fallen in line, in creating the best performance SUV that you can buy in the market. So which one should you pick? Well, here is your answer.

We are living in a world where Supercars and SUV's are not all that different from each other. Now what we mean by that is, gone are the days, where people would actively indulge themselves in some off-roading fun, rather all they want is supreme comfort, utilitarian nature and of course supercar-like performance. So thus, by the latest standards, if you are into SUVs, we bring you the world's most important rivalry in the SUV world.

2020 Lamborghini Urus

Add to it the most expensive, fastest and also the most powerful rivalry and there you have it, the 2020 Lamborghini Urus taking on the 2020 Audi RS Q8, 2020 Maserati Levante Trofeo, and the 2020 Porsche Cayenne Turbo. The battle of the true-born titans.

The 2020 Lamborghini Urus somewhat has a split personality of sorts, which means it packs supercar-like performance, but that can also go off-road as well. But then it does come at a bitter price though, starting at $207,326. But fret not, as for the people who are up to date with what's going on in the Automotive world, there is now a car based on the same platform as the urus for $80,000 cheaper. Audi has now expanded its horizons a little more further by introducing the all-new RS Q8 to the RS series this year. It can be called as the car that bridges the luxury of a coupe and the practicality of an SUV for the Audi enthusiasts. The Audi RS Q8 is the most expensive car to wear an RS badge. The RS Q8 truly defines the name that is Audi.

The Porsche Cayenne Turbo was one of the first "Sports" SUVs in the market and over the years, it has established itself as one of the best. The balance that it strikes between being sporty and practical is also very impressive. Although the Cayenne has always been perceived as a luxury SUV, Porsche clarifies it by saying that it is a sports car for 5 people, and they are rather adamant about it. Cayenne has been a huge hit since the dawn of its introduction and with that same belief, they are now introducing the all-new 2020 Porsche Cayenne Turbo with many upgrades. It's a bit hotter than the normal Cayenne. It ought to be for all the extra money you are paying for it. It looks a lot more sporty and aerodynamic. The Cayenne Turbo is Porsche's own multi-utility vehicle meaning that it can do all kinds of stuff you would want a "Sports SUV" to do.

Maserati, the name itself sends a shrieking sensation down your spine. Now imagine that same sensation but turned it over to two-fold. That's what the Levante Trofeo is all about. It's a hotted-up version of the normal Levante, and because of that, it costs a bit more too. 50 grand more to be exact, that's right. Nevertheless, we would pay that much more money if we had it of course, for the soundtrack alone, that's how good it is. So let's have a quick comparison between them as we take a closer look at the world's most impressive SUVs.

How does The Lamborghini Urus fare against the rest of the competition in terms of performance?

Audi is bringing out its big guns to set its mark on the SUV territory, and the changes have already taken flight, as it might not be the most powerful or fastest SUV in the world, but Audi sure does know how to set lap times, and thus holds the record for the fastest SUV around the Nurburgring. The RS Q8 shares its platform with the Italian cousin the Lamborghini Urus. the urus shares its powerhouse with the Audi V8, with a 4.0L twin-turbocharged engine pumping out 641 horsepower and 627 lb-ft. of torque which alongside the 8 speed ZF automatic transmission and the active torque vectoring system that enables the driver to perform exceptionally on every occasion and in every situation.

Now when you mention the word performance, you can't but seem to include the well-established player in this field, Porsche. The new Cayenne Turbo has a hulking V8 backed by a turbocharger giving out a massive 541 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque. Porsche also has a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 motor but falls flat when compared to the Urus. The Levante Trofeo, on the other hand, is the kind of vehicle you get when a 550hp Ferrari engine is equipped in an SUV. This helps it to sit bang in the middle of the segment. It's a really potent engine and feels more than adequate in the city or out on the wide stretch of tarmac.

For environmental enthusiasts, and for the ones who are a sucker for efficiency, Porsche also offers a 48-volt mild hybrid system. Now the Urus is on a completely different side of the spectrum as it is all about performance with efficiency taking a back seat. The 2020 Lamborghini's power plant feels totally at home on fast motorways and has bundles of power reserve to execute an overtaking maneuver, so much so that when the throttle's depressed completely, it'll do 190 MPH, thus making it the fastest SUV in the whole world. Now that's what you get for all that extra money you shell out.

That's not all, quad tailpipes on the Urus add that much more aggressiveness to the look of the car and the sound note is bonkers, something that is gravely missing in the Audi.

2020 Audi RS Q8

Porsche's 4.0L engine which is good for 541hp is surely not the most energetic but feels adequate for the job. The ride is an ideal blend of comfort, utility, and luxury. Porsche also offers a Turbo SE-hybrid model which packs 670 horsepower for a price hike of $35,000, which to be put more bluntly is of no use, as the base Cayenne Turbo can still hit 60 mph in less than 4 seconds.

Coming to the Maserati, the SUV was meant to go fast and it does so too. The V8 based on the Ferrari creating is most likely to spend its time on the tarmac rather than on treacherous paths, as even though it has an AWD system, it mainly focuses on maximizing traction.

Which looks better?

If it's the look that strikes you at first glance. It is the Lamborghini through and through without a doubt. It's aggressive and has such a strong presence on the road, unlike the others. Not that the others are that bad, they simply can't match the Urus in the design field. Those sharp lines and crevices with the hexagon and Y figured inspired design is seen all throughout the body. Although one minor setback is the amount a faux-vents that can be seen on the outside. Porsche, on the other hand, feels a little lost, in the category that she herself created. As Porsche's design language although spectacular feels a bit outdated and aged at times. Changes although minor, are still evident in the design. Stunning taillight strips and LED headlamps are all the more dominant in this year's model.

The newly unveiled Audi RS Q8 is basically a Lamborghini urus in disguise. It shares most of its underpinnings with the Urus, and are of course based on the same platform. The only thing that sets them apart is the design language, wherein the Audi looks a bit laid back and less excited in its appeal, the Urus is packed with sharp lines and aggressive front and back end taking inspiration from the iconic Countach. With big vents, proper rear diffuser and the massive grille, it's just a souped-up Audi Q8.

Coming to the Maserati, this Levante Trofeo is simply gorgeous to look at. It simply stands out from the rest. From the Maserati's iconic trident placed on the fully blacked-out front grille to the LED taillamps in the rear end, this is one hell of a looker. The design language behind the Trofeo is to make it more aerodynamically efficient.

The Levante's dimensions are quite similar to that of the rest, but what makes it stand apart is Maserati's determination to do with what has been given and to make it look much more spectacularly appealing. Lamborghini's greater wheelbase should translate to a more spacious seating arrangement. One big surprise is that even though Audi is heftier than the rest, it still clings onto corners like a sports car, without much of a body roll. Porsche despite it's heavy and wide dimensions fails to offer stance as bold as the Maserati Levante Trofeo.

Which has a better interior?

Coming to the interior, granted that a whole lot of Urus's interior comes from Audi, but Audi does know how to make a decent size of interior kit. But fret not, Lamborghini has added their personal touch too, with their signature jet-fighter starter flap on the center console. The seats in the Urus are draped in the finest leather one could find. The rear seats come in the form of two optional packages-an individual bucket seat or else in the form of a bench row to seat in 5 fairly well-sized adults in comfortably. Never before could one have thought that you could fit 5 people in a Lamborghini, but with changing times, Lamborghini has also matured enough to see what's needed.

2020 Porsche Cayenne

In spite of Audi RS Q8 being so similar to the Urus, both of them are different in their own ways, as both of them display their manufacturer's expertise completely. The RS models, for instance, are worth your time for that added adrenaline-rich capability. Furthermore, we believe that there aren't many who could beat the famed Audi at its game, which is interior packaging. You get the RS seats, which to be honest are the best in its segment. These hold you in position even on the toughest corners.

2020 Maserati Lavente

Now coming to the Porsche, we can't really talk about the car, without devoting some words to its interior. For those who have been never associated with the Porsche, you're in for a surprise. The cabin space is visually very impressive and knowing its Porsche, you can't seem to find any flaw with it. With a wide and endless list of optional packages, Porsche lets you individually choose every single damn thing inside the cabin to make it that much more personalized from heated and ventilated seats to the color of seatbelts you want. It can seat in 5 people with an adequate amount of headroom and legroom on offer. Porsche infotainment screen is crisp and responsive, and may very well be the best in this segment.

2020 Lamborghini Urus

Those Italians do know what they are doing, take for example the new Maserati Levante Trofeo, wherein they've gone so intricate with the details, so much so that Maserati didn/t just want an engine from Ferrari, they also equipped the Levante with an adjustable pedal box like the LaFerrari-cool right? What results from this is an adaptable driving position. The interior inside Maserati might not be as sumptuous as the others, but it does hold a few qualities unique to it. You can access the infotainment screen via touch, hand gesturing and also by a rotary knob down below in the center console. Coming to the seats. Two people can be seated comfortably in the rear, but when you try and fit in a third person, it might get a bit cramped inside.

The interior space is generous with the Porsche, even with its shortest wheelbase. Now, unfortunately, we don't have the data for the other cars out yet, so it wouldn't justify Porsche's bigger cabin space being better or not. Audi has exploited the size of the RS Q8 well enough to get the biggest cargo volume of the lot. With 31.0 cu.ft of space, it stands tall in this field, which is more than enough for frequent trips to Wallmart. But then we hardly think that these "super SUVs" would be used for that purpose. Nevertheless, yo do good with what you've been offered, and Porsche understands that which is why even when it is the smallest car of the segment, you get the maximum cargo volume in the back, once the rear seats have been folded down flat. More than enough for week-long family getaways.

Maserati falls behind in this aspect with 20.5 cu.ft of cargo volume, which does increase up to 41 cu.ft once the rear seats are down, but even then it is hardly enough. Ingress and egress of large items from the trunk are also quite cumbersome. Urus, on the other hand, has plenty of space in the trunk. Besides that, the designers of the 2020 Lamborghini urus have masterfully designed cubby spaces and have articulated small nooks inside the cargo are to augment the customer's needs.

What should you choose between the Urus, Cayenne Turbo, Levante Trofeo and the RS Q8?

The Cayenne has been in the market for quite some time now and has surely made its presence felt across the segment. It's the cheapest of the lot and packs the maximum cargo volume. The driving dynamics are also to the point. Well, Porsche's are known for offering luxury car characteristics with considerable power and athletic handling abilities that defy its size and weight, which makes this car all the more desirable. Maserati, on the other hand, is quite expensive, and right of the bat we can't manage to find reasons as to which one should but the Maserati. Granted, it is one of the fastest SUVs ever and it packs a Ferrari engine, but does it justify the price tag? Probably not! However, we wouldn't completely overlook the Levante Trofeo for other better-known cars, as it should get credit when it's due.

2020 Audi RS Q8

The Audi Rs Q8 is the ultimate RS car. It is priced much less than the Urus, almost $80,000 less. So what do you get from a 130 grand sports SUV- the answer is a 600 hp Audi flagship SUV that covers 0-60 in 3.8 seconds. Sportscars which are much more expensive than this don't even come close to these figures. Great power with a responsibility towards the environment is what the RS Q8 stands for with its mild-hybrid technology.

2020 Lamborghini urus

Compared to the Urus, while the Lamborghini looks like a drag race-ready SUV, Audi's superb v8 engine and calm looks are its only saving grace. The Audi RS Q8 is a Lamborghini Urus minus the raging bull badge on its nose. Urus is a straight line savage. And unlike Audi who have had a history of making SUVs, Lamborghini even with their first-ever SUV, has smashed it out of the park. It is a true blue first "Super SUV".

2020 Maserati Lavente

Now considering, these cars are pitted against a Lamborghini, you very well know where to expect a cheaper price-tag. But having said that, getting a Lambo for 200 grand is definitely the more optimal choice. So what does 80 grand get you, the Lamborghini badge, which is definitely worth 50 grand on its own, and of course a few other things that make this car that much more worthy!
